Jitu Rai clinched India’s third medal at the ISSF World Cup after winning bronze in the 10m Air Pistol event at New Delhi on Tuesday.
With a final score of 216.7, he finished behind, Japan’s Tomoyuki Matsuda (240.1) and Vietnam’s Xuan Vinh Hoang (236.6).
Rai, who spoke to The Quint right after winning the medal, said that he likes to fight for a medal. At one point in the final, the Commonwealth Games gold medallist was fighting with China’s Qifeng Pu, who finished eight in the final, to stay in the competition.
The experienced shooter spoke about a niggle on his right palm and about the debacle he had at the Rio Olympics.
