पत्रकार और एक्टिविस्ट गौरी लंकेश के परिवार ने हत्या की जांच को लेकर कुछ मांगे रखी है. गौरी के भाई इंद्रजीत लंकेश ने कहा कि गौरी नक्सलियों के पुनर्वास के लिए काम कर रही थीं. इसलिए इस एंगल से भी मामले की जांच होनी चाहिए. वहीं गौरी की बहन कविता लंकेश ने कहा कि हत्यारे का पकड़ा जाना जरूरी है लेकिन उससे भी अहम है उनकी आवाज का जिंदा रहना है.

Yes, Gauri Lankesh was a journalist and an activist with strong political views. But, is this the new norm for dealing with anyone with strong views? Anyone you disagree with?
She wrote. She shouted slogans. She spoke out. But, she never a fired a bullet at you for disagreeing with her, she never even threw ink at someone, not even a shoe.
But, she got her final reply in a hail of bullets.
So is that the new norm?
Bengaluru-based journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh was killed after unidentified men shot at her from a close range outside her residence in Rajarajeshwari Nagar, late on 5 September.
Lankesh, the editor of Kannada tabloid Gauri Lankesh Patrike, was convicted in a defamation case in 2016. She was out on bail after being found guilty of defamation in a case filed by BJP MP Prahlad Joshi.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah condemned Lankesh’s death and said three police teams have been constituted to probe the killing and instructions have been issued to crack the case at the earliest.
The Union Home Ministry has sought a report from the Karnataka government Gauri Lankesh’s death, an official said.
The move came after Home Minister Rajnath Singh directed Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba to get a report from the state government.
The Karnataka government has been asked to provide details of the incident and the steps taken to nab those involved in the killing, the official added.
Addressing media , Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that he has asked the police to take up the case on priority and added that the “law and order situation in Karnataka is very good”.
