Bus Falls Into a Gorge Near Shimla; 28 Killed and 9 Injured - The Quint



At least 28 people have died and nine others have been injured after a bus rolled into a 700-metre deep gorge in the Rampur area of Shimla on the Hindustan-Tibet National Highway in Himachal Pradesh. The accident site is about 140 km from the state capital.
The bus, with around 40 passengers, was travelling from Reckong Peo in Kinnaur to Nauni in Solan when the mishap occurred.
Shimla's Deputy Commissioner Rohan Chand Thakur said the rescue operations are underway, and that the injured have been admitted to the civil hospital at Khaneri, Shimla. The National Disaster Response Force has also been rushed to the spot to supervise relief and rescue operations.
