Flood Situation Worsens in Assam: Death Toll Reaches 49 - The Quint



The death toll in flood-ravaged Assam touched 49 on Thursday. The flood situation in Assam continued to deteriorate with five more persons losing their lives today in various flood-related incidents in Golaghat, Lakhimpur, Nagaon and South Salmara districts. While over 17 Lakh people remained affected across 26 districts in the state.
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reported that 2,450 villages are under water at present and more than 86,000 hectares of crop areas are inundated . The Brahmaputra and its tributaries flowing above the danger level has flooded the state.
