At least six people have been killed in Mumbai, as heavy rains continue to lash the city, causing severe flooding and waterlogging. Reports suggest Tuesday, 29 August marked the wettest August day in Mumbai in 20 years. However, the BMC has said that the situation is not as bad as that of the 2005 floods.

In a tragedy that could have been prevented, a woman lost her child due to the callousness of doctors at the Umaid hospital in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, on 29 August. As the pregnant woman lay on the operation table for an emergency C-section surgery, the two doctors engaged in a verbal argument. The child was declared dead after one of the obstetricians assisted in the delivery.
A hospital staffer recorded the fight on a smartphone, and the video has since gone viral. Both doctors, Dr Ashok Nainwal and Dr ML Tak, have been suspended.

A 32-year-old Manipuri man was allegedly assaulted brutally by the management staff of Hotel Empire, Jayanagar, Bengaluru.
S Paukhanmung, an employee of the hotel, was smoking on the terrace of the restaurant on the night of August 27. The operations manager of the hotel, Loknath, who spotted him smoking, asked him to pay a fine of Rs 100. When he questioned why he was being singled out, while others smiled as well, he was allegedly attacked.
On Tuesday, Mumbai witnessed its heaviest rainfall in the last twelve years. According to the met department, the city received more than 300 mm of rain, turning streets into flooded rivers and disrupting train and healthcare services across several districts.

Continuous heavy rains in Mumbai have caused severe flooding and water-logging in several parts of the city and adversely affected both road and rail transport. Local trains running on the Western Railway line have either been slowed down or disrupted, and several flights have been delayed too. The city is likely to witness its highest rainfall since 2005, reports say.
Houston police Chief Art Acevedo says authorities have rescued 2,000 people from flooding in the city.
Acevedo says the city has 185 critical rescue requests still pending as of Monday morning. He says the goal is to rescue those people by the end of the day.
The comments came at a news conference where officials provided updates on Harvey, which is still pouring rain on the Houston area.
Harvey came ashore late Friday about 30 miles (48 kilometers) northeast of Corpus Christi, Texas, as a Category 4 hurricane but has since been downgraded to a tropical storm. The slow-moving storm has caused catastrophic flooding in Texas.
