So yesterday the protest
outside Ramjas college got violent. And I say this from personal experience
because I got beat up too. And yes my assaulter was a woman who happened to be
on the ABVP side of the police cordon. And I was standing where a lot of fellow
journalists were but I just happened to be the one directly within grab ‘n’
pummel reach. My colleagues, Anant and Shiv got thrashed as well. By the cops.

Violent class broke out
between ABVP and AISA members outside Delhi University’s Ramjas College. The
Quint’s reporter Taruni Kumar was assaulted and manhandled by members of the
ABVP as she tried to capture the ruckus on a Facebook Live. Students of JNU, Ramjas, DU and members of ABVP
now play the blame game and defend their actions. "We were dragged across
the streets and stones were thrown at us. All of this happened in the presence
of the police,” said Shehla Rashid, former member of the JNUSU.
Cultures of Protest”, a two-day long seminar organised by Delhi University’s Ramjas College, had to be cancelled after members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad protested against the participation of Jawaharlal Nehru University students, Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid Shora.
