National Students Union of India (NSUI) initiated a 'Gift a rose' campaign outside Ramjas college to instill some peace in Delhi University. Violence gripped the Ramjas campus post the clash between the ABVP and the students over the participation of Umar Khalid – JNU student –in a seminar in Ramjas. Pained by the fear evident in the students NSUI began a campaign to ensure peace and harmony in the campus by distributing chocolates and roses to every student.
(This is a first person account of the female student who was beaten up by male personnel of the Delhi Police at the Delhi University campus on 22 February. The student has requested anonymity.) Hello everyone, I am a Delhi University student. I wish I could have revealed my identity to my countrymen, but I can’t. I am worried about the social media backlash. And if my family finds out, they will force me to drop everything and leave Delhi. I don’t want to worry them, so I must stay anonymous.
ABVP, or Akhil Bharatiya
Vidyarthi Parishad, continues to make headlines. A few days ago, they got noisy
against Umar Khalid in Ramjas College, and now they have made sure Gurmehar
Kaur gets the attention. This student-wing is the true star-maker.
Honestly, we think ABVP is the best bet to get
your event the much needed sasti publicity. Take a look!
Gurmehar Kaur, daughter of Captain Mandeep Singh, who was martyred in the Kargil war of 1999, speaks out against trolls on social media who are calling her anti-national.
The Ramjas college protests entered day three on Thursday, with students and teachers gathering outside the police headquarters at ITO in Delhi.
Speaking to The Quint, Umar Khalid said the “bullying tactics” of the ABVP cannot stop him.
Khalid, who is the center of the protest, said that ABVP’s actions were pre-planned.
“This was never about me. They made it about my presence to ensure that the seminar doesn’t happen. I was not even present on both the days of the violence. They are standing up to their true name – Akhil Bharatiya Vandalism Parishad,” he said.
So yesterday the protest
outside Ramjas college got violent. And I say this from personal experience
because I got beat up too. And yes my assaulter was a woman who happened to be
on the ABVP side of the police cordon. And I was standing where a lot of fellow
journalists were but I just happened to be the one directly within grab ‘n’
pummel reach. My colleagues, Anant and Shiv got thrashed as well. By the cops.

Violent class broke out
between ABVP and AISA members outside Delhi University’s Ramjas College. The
Quint’s reporter Taruni Kumar was assaulted and manhandled by members of the
ABVP as she tried to capture the ruckus on a Facebook Live. Students of JNU, Ramjas, DU and members of ABVP
now play the blame game and defend their actions. "We were dragged across
the streets and stones were thrown at us. All of this happened in the presence
of the police,” said Shehla Rashid, former member of the JNUSU.
