National Students Union of India (NSUI) initiated a 'Gift a rose' campaign outside Ramjas college to instill some peace in Delhi University. Violence gripped the Ramjas campus post the clash between the ABVP and the students over the participation of Umar Khalid – JNU student –in a seminar in Ramjas. Pained by the fear evident in the students NSUI began a campaign to ensure peace and harmony in the campus by distributing chocolates and roses to every student.
Even as unrest continues to escalate in Delhi University’s North Campus, Politicians from across the spectrum remain divided over what constitutes nationalism. For Union Minister Venkiah Naidu, Gurmehar Kaur’s idea of her father’s death needs some serious reckoning. According to news agency ANI, Naidu on Tuesday remarked that “Some children are being misled” and those behind this must speak their mind of her father’s sacrifice.
Tensions over the Ramjas Issue continued to escalate on Monday, as the RSS-Backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a tiranga march in Delhi University’s North Campus.
Violent class broke out
between ABVP and AISA members outside Delhi University’s Ramjas College. The
Quint’s reporter Taruni Kumar was assaulted and manhandled by members of the
ABVP as she tried to capture the ruckus on a Facebook Live. Students of JNU, Ramjas, DU and members of ABVP
now play the blame game and defend their actions. "We were dragged across
the streets and stones were thrown at us. All of this happened in the presence
of the police,” said Shehla Rashid, former member of the JNUSU.
