Two Frogs Wed in Elaborate Ceremony to Appease Rain God

Udalgiri village in Assam sports a festive look, as a unique wedding featuring two frogs is being celebrated to appease the rain god, ‘Barun’ and bring in the elusive monsoon.
The bizarre ritual requires both the frogs to be from different villages. Two separate groups first bathed the bride and groom separately and then decked up the frogs in traditional colours. The bride was also gifted a gold chain by the villagers while the groom was allotted a representative to apply vermilion on his prospective wife.
