Former Delhi Congress leader Barkha Shukla Singh joined the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) on 22 April, a day after being expelled from the Congress for six years.
BJP’s national vice-president and Delhi chief, Shyam Jaju, welcomed Singh to the party on Saturday.
Singh announced on 20 April that she was stepping down as the the chief of the women's wing of the Congress' Delhi unit. She had hit out at Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and the party's Delhi unit chief Ajay Maken.
