The Surat Diamond Association Health Committee will issue a bond of Rs 10,000 to 50 families who have more than one girl child. The bond will mature to Rs 85,000 by the time the girl turns 21, which is when she will be able to get the money, given under the Vidyalakshmi Yojna.
The Patidar community keeps organising various schemes under the "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" movement. A Surat businessman gave 50 girls a bond of Rs 10,000, which the girls will be able to use by the time they are 20 and the amount would have matured to Rs 85,000.
