The Quint: Key Stats About Delhi Municipal Corporations Election



Municipal Corporation of Delhi will undergo elections on 23 April. A total of 2,537 candidates will battle it out in this election.
According to the figures presented by Association for Democratic Reform (ADR), based on the affidavits filed by the candidates upon nomination, 173 candidates have criminal cases pending against them. 35 of them belong to Indian National Congress, 26 of them to Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and 21 to Aam Admi Party (AAP). 55 independent candidates also have criminal cases against them.
Meanwhile, ADR also found out that 697 candidates were ‘crorepatis’. 163 of them are from Indian National Congress, 141 from BJP, 104 from AAP and 41 from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). 188 independent candidates are also ‘crorepati’
