After the AAP government assured the construction of at least 2 lakh toilets in Delhi, The Quint makes a visit to several localities of Delhi to do a reality check.
After speaking to many residents of Kusumpur Pahari, Shahbad Diary and Munirka in Delhi, we learnt that people are forced to defecate in public.
"We come here late in the night and it is not safe. You can find men sitting here in the night, you cannot come here alone,” complains Sita.
The residents are also asked to pay to use the toilets making its usage further challenging for the poor residents.
While the 2017-18 budget aims to make 19,000 toilets, will this help them reach the 2 lakh target?
